We can no longer deny that the modern Christian landscape is largely characterized by woeful ignorance and apathy toward the true teaching of Scripture. Even while many continue to proudly carry their cliché declarations of love and loyalty toward God, the common professing Christian in the western world has shown that he does not know, nor does he often care to know, who the God of the Bible really is, and what He has done.
Warranted Faith exists only as a small outlet among many combating this dangerous trend in the church. The website is a mesh between a personal blog and public discussion forum, which originally was created to function as the "comment" system on posted articles, but has since developed into its own community. We invite you to join our Forums if you wish to interact with others on any topics related to theology and the Christian faith. Non-Christians who are capable of engaging in responsible and mature debate and dialogue are welcome to join as well.
Under the other four section headings of this website you can find the blog articles as well as other resources. To avoid the typical blog style that immediately displays only the most recent entries, they are divided into four categories or pages:
Apologetics: The intellectual defense of the faith. Warranted Faith is dedicated to a presuppositional approach to apologetics, hence its name. I believe this is the stance an apologist must take in order to consistently hold to Scripture as his worldview authority. The Christian faith is not simply "reasonable," but is in fact philosophically "warranted," and must be adopted by anyone wishing to consistently lay claim to being rational. This position will be explained and defended in depth in this section of the website.
Philosophy & Ethics: This section will house any philosophical or ethical thoughts that may not necessarily fit into one of the other site categories.
Theology: I believe that Reformed theology, as briefly defined by the solas of the Reformation, is the most consistent and faithful understanding of God and the gospel as presented in the Scriptures. I also believe that among all theological positions, it is the most mishandled by its opponents, and therefore it deserves perhaps even more exposure than what it has already been receiving in recent years. This section will largely be dedicated to the explanation and defense of Reformed doctrines.
Miscellaneous: Anything that doesn't easily fit in the other categories.
A little bit about me.
My name is Scott Morgan, I'm from North Carolina and hold a BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Appalachian State University. I have recently been accepted into the M.A.R. Biblical Studies program at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA, and plan to begin attending in the summer of 2011. Aside from my studies, I enjoy hiking & camping, exploring large cities (without a map), ametuer photography, and the occasional video game.
