Miscellaneous Debate Transcripts Debate Invitations
The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.
- Proverbs 18:17

It is my belief that the most educational presentation of any issue occurs when that issue can be fairly presented and defended by a proponent, and is free to be challenged by a credible opponent in the public square.  Anyone can make their own opinion sound convincing so long as it is left unchallenged.  But only the truth can remain standing when we subject these opinions to careful, public scrutiny.

I will formally debate serious-minded individuals on the following issues and under the following conditions.

Debate challenges I am willing to engage in at this time:

  • Does the Triune God of the Bible exist?  (My position: Affirmative)
  • Is 5-Point Calvinism the most biblically consistent and God-honoring view of salvation?  (My position: Affirmative)
  • Is the Bible inerrant?  (My position: Affirmative)
  • Has God given a prevenient grace?  (My position: Negative)

I am also willing to engage in individual debates with professing Christians on one of the "Five Points" of Calvinism, on the condition that my opponent agrees to a series of debates on any prior points.  (For example, a debate on Limited Atonement must be preceded by debates on Total Depravity and Unconditional Election.)

Conditions:

  •  I will currently debate only in written form.  No face-to-face interaction or Skype calls.  I would prefer my own forum, but other locations or e-mail exchanges are fine under the following additional condition:
  • You must agree to allow me to post the debate on this website upon completion.  (If you have your own website or blog I too will agree to any request for it to be posted there.)  I have no interest in doing a debate that may not be made available to God's people, as this would completely defeat any purpose I see in having formal debate, which is for educational purposes.
  • There must be at least 2 weeks of preparation time from the day of the debate's public announcement to the beginning of our debate.
  • Debate structure must include some sort of cross-examination period (direct Q&A).

We can discuss together matters of posting length, time limit between posts, etc.  Send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the subject title "Debate Invitation" if you wish to debate.

Please judge yourself carefully before choosing to send me a debate invite.  If you cannot handle a discussion of a controversial issue in a responsible and mature manner, you may want to think twice before sending the e-mail.  I expect my opponents to exercise politeness and etiquette in our discussions, just as I will always do my best to do the same.
